Women’s Sober Living

Women sober living altruism counseling
  • Accountability: Between household rules, your roommates in recovery, and your continued counseling, you’ll learn to take responsibility when required, make smart choices, and stay substance-free.
  • Developing new skills: Healthy life skills, from effective communication and new coping mechanisms to budgeting and time management, are prioritized in sober living to promote lasting changes and a successful transition into life after substance use.
  • Community. Every day, your peers around you will support you emotionally, lift you up, and remind you that you aren’t alone in your journey.
  • Freedom: You’ll build a full and vibrant life for yourself out in “the real world” while still having a safe place to return to at the end of the day. Even better – you’ll gain the freedom that comes with recovery from substance use disorders.

Women’s Sober Living Housing

Recovery is significantly harder to maintain on your own. Long-term support is key, and that’s where Altruism Counseling’s women’s sober living home, Chloe’s House, can help. Chloe’s House offers a safe, structured living environment with access to our skilled staff 24/7, all without giving up your freedom. You’ll also work toward a substance-free life with other women who understand where you’re coming from, building invaluable relationships. We’ll ensure you start your journey to recovery on the right foot and have unrelenting support every step of the way.

Why Choose Our Women’s Sober Living House?

  • Safe and supportive environment. Returning home after treatment can be challenging because so many things can remind you of substance-related memories, or trigger emotions that illicit cravings. Women’s sober living offers a distraction-free, safe environment that supports your recovery.
  • Structure and routine. When you feel ruled by a substance, it’s hard to maintain a routine or live a structured life. Women’s sober living will delegate household tasks, establish healthy routines, and offer tried-and-true tips and guidelines that have worked for other women in recovery.
  • Building relationships with like-minded women. Your housemates will all have their own unique insights and life experiences, but you’ll all be able to relate to one another because you’re all working to overcome substance use disorders. Living together means plenty of time to create lifelong friendships that will become a core part of your support system while being inspired to work toward your goals.
  • The resources you need to succeed. On top of various counseling options and support groups, Altruism Counseling offers case management services to help you with job hunting, health insurance, transportation, financial aid, and more.

Owned by Women in Recovery, Run by Women in Recovery

Chloe’s House is owned and run by women in recovery who understand exactly where you’re coming from, and they know what it takes to heal. You aren’t alone in this journey. We’re here to help.

What We Treat: Substance Use Disorders

No matter the substance, addiction takes its toll. Whether it started with binge drinking, a prescription in a medicine cabinet, or illicit drugs at a party, it all leads in the same direction without intervention – toward poor health, strained relationships, and lost opportunities.

Getting out of the cycle of addiction once it starts can feel overwhelming. Over time, the substance changes your brain and teaches your body to rely on it. You feel sick when you don’t take your substance of choice, and it feels like your only source of relief from the pain – both emotional and physical.

It can be a lonely process. Even if you have supportive friends and family, they probably don’t fully grasp your feelings and experiences. They might be at a loss for what to do to help.

Maybe you don’t have people to support your recovery at all. Plenty of people with substance use disorders have partners or friends who engage with the same substances, encouraging them to keep using them – whether they mean to or not.

17% of adults in Kentucky had a substance use disorder in 2022. That’s around 767,040 people – more than double the entire population of Lexington. That means that even for as dark as things feel now, you aren’t alone. Recovery is possible, too, and it’s possible for you.

How We Treat: What to Expect From Women's Sober Living With Altruism Counseling

Chloe’s House is perfect for women who need a space to live out the early stages of their recovery journey. Our women’s sober living home is in a wonderful neighborhood in downtown Lexington, offering a safe, substance-free environment. It provides a stable living situation while you get back on your feet.

A regular week at Chloe’s House includes intensive outpatient programming from 9 AM to 12 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. You’ll also meet with your case manager once a week for any help you need with job hunting, health insurance, transportation, financial aid, and more.

You’ll have easy access to Altruism Counseling’s individual and group outpatient programming, as well as our anger management and DUI classes if needed. Mental health concerns and substance use disorders often go hand-in-hand, and we will get you connected to mental health care and help you manage any necessary medications.

When you feel stabilized and ready to face the world on your own, you still won’t be alone. Aside from the lifelong relationships you build in our women’s sober living community, we’ll provide you with all the housing resources you need to live successfully in recovery long after your time with us.

What Is Sober Living for Women?

Think of women’s sober living this way: you’re living with a bunch of roommates who are all women trying to break free from addiction, just like you. You’ll live in a normal house in a normal neighborhood – not in a hospital setting or recovery center as an inpatient or residential program might require. You can live your own life and have a job, all while receiving support from Altruism Counseling and your roommates in recovery. There will be rules for you to follow, and regular check-ins and counseling sessions to make sure you’re always healing and growing.

Sober Living for Women in the Early Stages of Recovery

Depending on your substance use disorder, it may be best for you to participate in a medical detox program at a facility before you move into our women’s sober living community.

Women’s sober living is an option for any woman currently living in an environment that isn’t conducive to their recovery. Whether there’s drug activity around your original neighborhood, the people you live with are interfering with your recovery, or you don’t have a stable living situation at all – Chloe’s House might be the option you’re looking for. Chloe’s House is meant specifically for women in the early stages of recovery.

While staying in our women’s sober living arrangements, you’ll still continue attending therapy and 12-step meetings. In a way, Chloe’s House is part of your treatment plan – not just a place you stay once treatment is complete. Recovery is an ongoing process, and our goal is for you to find the stability and community you need to regain control of your life and build a brighter future.

How Long Do I Stay? Altruism Counseling’s Sober Living Timeline

You’ll stay in our women’s sober living home for six months to a year, and we encourage you to stay as long as you need to feel secure in your recovery. We’re here to help you heal, not get you in and out the door on a set timeline.

Everyone’s recovery looks different. That means some women will feel ready to leave Chloe’s House after six months, and some will take the full year. There’s nothing wrong with taking your time – in fact, studies show that staying at a sober living home for longer periods correlates with sustained recovery. It all just depends on what you need, and Altruism Counseling is here to help every step of the way.
