Emily Hixon has taught "PRIME For Life" alcohol/drug education classes (primarily for clients who have gotten DUI's) for 24 years, the last four for Altruism Counseling Services. Her professional background includes Director of Pomeroy House at the Women's Alcoholism Center, and providing substance abuse counseling for clients with HIV/AIDS at the Walden House, in San Francisco, CA. She served as Program Supervisor at the Hope Center Recovery Program for Women, and she provided individual and group education and counseling at the Morton Center in Lexington, KY.
During her career, she has earned certification and/or training as a "PRIME For Life" instructor (1995), a DUI assessor (1999), a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC, 2000), a Recovery Dynamics instructor (2001), a Motivational Interviewing Counselor, an instructor in HIV/AIDS Workplace Education (1994), and in Basic Transformative Mediation for the Transformation House in Lexington, KY. My name is Ray Fletcher, and I am a Targeted Case Manager with Altruism Counseling. I have Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections from Eastern Kentucky University, and I've worked in the counseling field for approximately ten years in total. I hold certifications in Core Targeted Case Management, Substance Use Case Management, and Co-Occurring Case Management. I believe in a holistic approach to overall health, combining medical, social, and psychological well-being in order for one to be the best version of themselves. I am a former collegiate athlete, a former high school sports coach, and currently a small business owner.
I'm particularly effective in connecting clients with outside resources, and well-versed in the community-based aspect of healthcare. During college and post-graduation, I've been able to travel internationally and conduct research to learn about the treatment cultures, social needs, and recovery structures of other countries. During my time at EKU, I was a member of Alpha Phi Sigma, two national social-science honor societies, and our chapter treasurer of the American Correctional Association.
